The incentive program for lateral hires has been extended through 2017
A hiring bonus of $8,000 payable as follows: $2,000 at the successful completion of academy training, $3,000 upon completion of On-the-Job-Training and $3,000 after completion of a one-year probationary period.
Sick Leave Transfer:
Each lateral hire, upon completion of the officer's training academy, shall be credited with one hundred (100) hours of sick leave.
Vacation Transfer And Accrual Rate:
Each lateral, upon completion of the officer's training academy, shall be credited with one hundred (100) hours of vacation leave. In addition, each lateral hire shall accrue vacation leave at the rate applicable to employees with five years experience with the City provided they have at least five years of experience with their previous employer.
Starting Compensation Level:
Each lateral hire will receive beginning compensation of $28.00 per hour.
Relocation Moving Expense Assistance:
Each lateral hire relocating from outside of the Albuquerque area may receive up to $5,000 in financial reimbursement. Details of eligible costs can be found in the Travel Regulations.
